Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo

The Turkey Trot is a wonderful fundraiser to raise money to help fund animal care and to keep programs running at the Oregon Zoo.

Organized by the Oregon Road Runners Club, this 4-mile run and walk which starts at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 23, 2017, in Washington Park and ends at the Oregon Zoo is a great way to get your appetite going. This Thanksgiving Day tradition usually raises around $25,000 each year and also has a Kid’s Tot Trot for the younger ones to enjoy as well.

Portland Tree Lighting Ceremony

This year at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Portland’s Pioneer Square will happen the evening after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 5:30-6:30 pm.

This year’s event will include a sing-a-long with Thomas Lauderdale, members of Pink Martini, “Oregon’s Own” 234th Army Band and the Pacific Youth Choir. There will also be free sing-a-long books handed out at the event, or you can DOWNLOAD YOUR OWN COPY online.

You’ll surely enjoy the spirit and the atmosphere while you’re here, having a merry time with your friends and loved ones as you watch the tree light up with over 14,000 lights in Portland’s Living Room.
